The Teacher – Katerina Diamond

ebook & paperback 10 March 2016

You think you know who to trust?
You think you know the difference between good and evil?

You’re wrong …

The body of the head teacher of an exclusive Devon school is found hanging from the rafters in the assembly hall.

Hours earlier he’d received a package, and only he could understand the silent message it conveyed. It meant the end.

As Exeter suffers a rising count of gruesome deaths, troubled DS Imogen Grey and DS Adrian Miles must solve the case and make their city safe again.

But as they’re drawn into a network of corruption, lies and exploitation, every step brings them closer to grim secrets hidden at the heart of their community.

And once they learn what’s motivating this killer, will they truly want to stop him?

SMART. GRIPPING. GRUESOME.

This is a psychological crime thriller in a class of its own.

Warning: Most definitely *not* for the faint-hearted!

This is a blog tour with a difference.  Katerina Diamond has written an exclusive short story based around The Teacher especially for this blog tour, split into 10 parts.  I have the pleasure of hosting part 9 below, and you find the previous 8 excerpts hosted by the first 8 stops on the tour banner above. The final part will be posted tomorrow by Laura’s Little Book Blog.

STALKERS – Part 9

Imogen held her phone up to the hospital assistant, showing her the photo of Miles’ neighbour Lucy.

“Oh that’s Sasha, she worked here for about a month, well over a year ago.”

“But you remember her after all this time?”

“Oh yes, I don’t think anyone will be forgetting Sasha in a hurry. Plus she had that lovely red hair.”

“What’s so memorable about her?”

“Not long after she started here she developed a bit of a thing for one of the doctors, it got quite out of hand.”

“What did she do?”

“Threatened him, threatened any woman who talked to him, slashed the tyres on his car.”

“How did it end?”

“She got into his house. He freaked out and called the police and she just disappeared. No one’s seen her since.”

Imogen’s phone beeped and she looked at the message.

“Thanks for your help.” She made a quick exit and jumped into her car.

Pulling up outside Miles’ house she saw the fire engine. Lucy had started a fire; no doubt off the back of the threat of a forensic investigation into the brutal death of her cat. Miles was standing on the pavement with his arms folded.

“You think she did this?” Miles asked as Imogen approached him.

“I’m going to pretend you didn’t just ask that.” She said as she pulled out her phone. Imogen scrolled through her messages and then clicked on a link. “The techs just sent this to me”

She handed him her phone, the page on display was a Tumblr account, full with picture after picture of Miles. Miles with his son, Miles with her and, of course, Miles with a few women Imogen had never seen before. The pictures went back months and more recently had been more brazen. There were even pictures of Miles asleep, from her vantage point in the flat across the road.

“What the hell?”

“You’ve got yourself a stalker boyo. They did a reverse image search on one of the photos on her phone and found it online, linked it back to this site. Look at the date stamps on those posts, she’s been after you for months.”

“This is crazy!”

“I found out that this isn’t her first rodeo either, she’s done this thing to at least 4 other people as far as I can ascertain.”

“How did it end?”

“She was threatened with legal action and she backed off.”

“You think she’s gone, then?” Miles looked at Imogen; she smiled with her best poker face.
